Mikel, Chelsea, Arsenal, others react to Colombia plane crash

Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has send out an emotional message to Brazilian club Chapecoense who were involved in a plane crash late last night.
A flight heading to the Colombian city of Medellin crashed with 81 people on board, including the Brazilian football team.


Of the 81 people on board, only five survived the plane crash with the remaining 76 confirmed dead.

Following the tragic incident, Mikel took to his Twitter handle to post a picture of the aircraft with an emotional caption.
European Football giants Arsenal, Chelsea, the Manchester clubs, Barcelona and a host of others have also joined the world in paying tribute to victims of the air mishap involving Brazilian outfit Chapecoense in Colombia. The club's on their respective twitter accounts wrote;

The five survivors of the plane crash according to Brazilian TV channels Globonews and SporTV are identified as Chapecoense defender Alan Ruschel, goalkeeper Danilo and reserve goalkeeper Jakson Follmann plus journalist Rafael Henzel and crew member Ximena Suárez
Brazilian news organizations reported 21 journalists had been on board the plane that crashed in a mountainous area on its way to Medellin.

Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech wedding is what everyone is talking about. This much-awaited marriage of cricketer Yuvraj Singh and British-Mauritian actor Hazel Keech took place in Chandigarh on Wednesday morning. The ceremony took place according to traditional Sikh rituals.
The duo had their mehendi ceremony on Tuesday, followed by a cocktail in the evening. But what caught our attention is the list of guests who are expected to be a part of the star-studded reception, which is to take place in Delhi on December 7. Hazel has starred with Salman Khan in Bodyguard, so will he be a guest on her special night? Well, other names in the list also mention Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan and the megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
The wedding invites were sent out to the who’s who of cricket, Bollywood, and political fraternity. As per Yuvraj-Hazel wedding plans, there will be another round of wedding rituals in Goa on December 2. According to a Hindustan Times report, the wedding will be a private affair with only family and close friends present
But the gala reception will be held in Delhi on December 7. On this, the report added, “The Indian cricket team will definitely be there for most functions. Besides top politicians, who’ve been invited to the Delhi reception, the guestlist includes the Ambanis, Bachchans, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, Soha and Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, and Neha Dhupia.”
“I might attend the wedding but it all depends on my work schedule, as I have just started shooting for TV show, Roadies. So whenever I have a day off, I’ll make it,” Neha Dhupia has said.






Earlier, there were reports that cricketer Virat Kohli and girlfriend, actor Anushka Sharma might also attent the celebration. Even if they make their relationship public or not, there isn’t any doubt that Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli make one powerful couple. However, it seems unlikely now. Sources say that Anushka arrived in Chandigarh (on Monday) a day before the mehendi function, but left soon after meeting Yuvi’s family.
We will be waiting for December 7 to see who all turn up for the grand Hazel Keech, Yuvraj Singh reception.

Nigeria striker Michael Uchebo 'dying in silence' in Boavista

Nigeria striker Michael Uchebo has claimed he is ‘dying in silence’ after his Portuguese club Boavista have refused to pay him since March, ESPN reports.
Uchebo who has been frozen out of his team’s squad, could take his case to world football governing body FIFA, if no resolution can be reached.
Speaking at a news conference, the Super Eagles forward said he had been forced to train alone for almost a year since the situation began last November when Boavista advised him to find another club.



He said: "I remember going to have a shop and not having money to buy something; I came to [the club] and said I needed money for food.
"They haven't paid my house rent, haven't paid for my electricity -- I remember two days when I didn't have any electricity in my house.
He said he was then paid in March but claims to have not received any money after.
He said: "At the end of August I told the club president that my family had problems because they still hadn't paid me my salary.
"The club president told me: 'I don't pay you, I won't pay you any money, just go.'
"In September they asked me to take one month's salary to leave, but the transfer window had closed. Where did they want me to go?"
According to Uchebo, his problems began last November when Boavista told him to stop reporting for training and advised he should find a new club in January.
Boavista had begun their Primeira Liga season disastrously as the club was afflicted with long-term financial difficulties.
“I told them: ‘You’ve stopped me training for two months, you’re not paying my salary and, now I have an option, I want to go; I don’t ask for the money, I just want to continue my career,” he said.
But his call fell on deaf ears. However, Uchebo is currently being supported by players' union FIFPRO and Portugal's Sindicato dos Jogadores Profissionais de Futebol [SJPF], whose president Joaquim Evangelista described his case as "embarrassment to the country (Portugal) and Portuguese football."
He added: "Like any other player Michael just wants to do his job. He just wants to play again. The club is violating the obligations established in his contract."
The SJPF said it was negotiating with Boavista, who have not so far commented on the situation, on behalf of Uchebo.
Uchebo was a surprise selection for Nigeria’s World Cup squad and he played 34 minutes in Nigeria 3-2 defeat to Argentina in Group F.
He has been capped five time for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, scoring once

Chapecoense To Honour Fallen Heroes By Playing Last Brasileirao Fixture


Chapecoense will pay tribute to the players and staff who lost their lives in an air disaster Monday night, by playing their next scheduled league match, according to president Ivan Tozzo.
The flight that was heading for Medellin carrying members of the first team and journalist crashed in Cerro Gordo, with 71 of 77 passengers losing their lives.
The Brazilian club were going to face Nacional in the Copa Sudamericana final. The Colombian club has asked CONMEBOL to crown Chapeco champions of the competition.
Previously vice-president, Tozzo has assumed duties at the head of the club.
He revealed on Wednesday that Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president Marco Polo del Nero has requested that they line-up for their Campeonato Brasileiro match against Atletico Mineiro on December 11.
Tozzo said at a news conference: “I spoke with president Marco Polo del Nero and he told me the game against Atletico Mineiro, which is our next game, we’re going to have a big event in Chapeco, which is going to be scheduled.
“I replied to him: ‘But we don’t have 11 players to put on the field!’
“He said to me: ‘You guys have it. You have a base team [Under-20s). Put on the players that are recovering from injury, which is five or six players, and another who is ready to play, and then complete the team with juniors.
“It doesn’t matter what the final score is. We have to have a big party that you deserve, that Chapeco deserves, that the region deserves, that Santa Catarina deserves, and that Brazil deserves.'”
Though Chapecoense’s squad has been decimated by the tragedy, several Brazilian clubs have reportedly offered to loan them players at no cost in order to fulfil their fixtures.
Chapecoense also offered medical updates on their three players to survive the crash.
Goalkeeper Jackson Follmann has had a leg amputated, with doctors also considering whether to amputate his other foot.
Neto was described as being in a “stable medical state”, with Alan Ruschel able to move his limbs after undergoing spinal surgery.
